Project volunteers

Mike hind - Normandy

Mike is a journalist by training and these days a part-time automotive PR consultant in practice. Most of his spare time is now spent researching the squadron history. It’s the best story he has ever worked on.

Yann Perrotte - normandy

Yann has been researching the squadron for many years. A native of Cherbourg, with a proud military family history, he was instrumental in organising the honouring of the squadron in a series of special events in St Pierre Eglise to mark the 80th anniversary of the liberation this year.

Diane Lawson - washington state

Diane is responsible for the lions share of our progress in tracing families of the men who served in the squadron. A keen genealogist, her tireless work on Ancestry surfaces contacts today who help us to properly pay tribute to the men.

Karen Farrell - southern california

Karen joined the team after presenting us with a remarkable trove of photographs and memoirs from her father, Cpl. Joseph Negri, 1st Platoon, Troop A. She is determined to help make every man more than just a name and service number.

An unidentified 24th Cav Recon trooper stands in the place of Mike’s portrait (above) 80 years before, in Charleville, Ardennes..

Cash Simmons - north carolina

Cash was the team’s first blood connection with the squadron. An avid researcher and collector of WW2 memorabilia, his great-grandfather Bill Stephens served in Troop B.

Kellen Hollenbeck - Connecticut

Kellen is a former USAF intelligence officer and cavalry scout. A WW2 buff, his expertise is invaluable in providing interpretation of research materials.
